During active use, a guitar is exposed to stress, which can result in chips, cracks, and malfunctions of the instrument’s electronic components. The finish may also suffer from improper transportation and storage conditions. The guitar neck, in particular, is highly sensitive to environmental conditions.
Improper storage temperatures, humidity levels, and the use of strings with incorrect gauges can cause the neck to warp in various directions, and in the worst cases, the wood may crack or even break, leaving the musician unable to use the instrument.
